On July 30th, the undercover detective sent Roberson a text message to come to a convenience store that was near her 'home'. ĭetectives say Roberson responded to a profile posted on a social media site by sending explicit images of himself to the undercover detective posing as a 13-year-old girl. When the men arrived at the location, troopers arrested them. Once it became clear that the men were looking for sex with a child, undercover officers arranged meetings. The conversations then moved from online to texting. Undercover detectives contacted or responded to men online. The operation involved multiple state and federal law enforcement agencies, with officers posting and responding to advertisements on social media and internet websites known to cater to sexual encounters. In late July, the Washington State Patrol's Missing and Exploited Children’s Task Force conducted an undercover 'Operation Net Nanny' in rural Pierce County to target child sex predators. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist has charged the 29-year-old with Attempted Rape of a Child-2nd Degree, Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes and Attempting to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle. ![]() Marshals led Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force says Jaquail Roberson was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail on Wednesday, August 29th. Hopefully these arrests will cut short these predators as they search out victims and also serve as a deterrent to those with similar intentions and even save lives. Weinstein, Jeffrey A., 41, Bellingham, WA.Severson, Mathew A., 51, Bellingham, WA.Chino -Acatitlan, Gilberto, 28, Bow, WA.Brown, Christopher M., 39, Bellingham, WA.The names of the individuals arrested during the operation are: This operation is protecting our vulnerable children and making communities safer.” Batiste stated: “Through the collaborative work of multiple agencies, we are actively taking sexual predators who target children off the streets and off the internet. The would-be perpetrators who were arrested in this operation had traveled to meet with undercover detectives posing as young girls and boys, with the intent to engage in sexual activity with them. The operation generated hundreds of responses. There have been 15 others throughout the state since then, and the efforts have resulted in 271 arrests. Law enforcement officers acting in an undercover capacity communicated (through various websites) with individuals interested in having sex with children. The state's first 'net nanny' operation took place in Kitsap County in August 2015. The operation in its entirety has netted a total of 159 arrests and has rescued 22 child victims. ![]() Since the original operation began, there have been nine additional operations within Washington State. The operation is called “Net Nanny” and it was started by the Washington State Patrol in August of 2015. Thanks to a multi-day operation run by law enforcement, county prosecutors, and victim advocate specialists, 20 sexual predators who targeted children in Whatcom County have been taken taken off of the streets. Bellingham, WA – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has reported that 20 people have been booked into the Whatcom County Jail on charges that include attempted rape of a minor, commercial sexual abuse of a minor, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, and possession of child pornography.
